The crisis of racial injustice

Back Lives Matter protest at the Vermont Statehouse

While guidelines around the pandemic are changing rapidly and Cx Associates works to implement proper protocols and procedures to safely reopen our offices, we recognize the need to acknowledge the concurrent crisis of racial injustice across our nation. We believe Black Lives Matter.

Systemic racism, including police brutality, has no place in our communities and needs to be dismantled; toward that end we've learned the importance of being more vocal in both our condemnations of such racism and our support for our Black and Brown community members.

We've always been advocates for addressing climate change, and it's not lost on us that communities of color disproportionately suffer its effects. Nor is it lost on us that the pandemic that we're all facing is disproportionately affecting the same people most impacted by environmental ills. These intersections are important to understanding the deeper ties our work has, and that our advocacy for the planet must include advocacy for marginalized communities.

We know we have work to do.

We're working to make our internal and external initiatives more equitable and will do so as transparently as possible for the sake of accountability. We've long sought gender equality when considering candidates for new positions in a male-dominated field; however, we realize we need to do more with regard to racial justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion both inside Cx Associates and within the field of engineering.  As a start, we plan to engage with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and will be making financial donations to NSBE’s Scholarship Fund, as well as the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and the Peace & Justice Center of Vermont.

Cx Associates urges you to join us in our efforts to stand in solidarity with our non-white community members as we commit our organization to the practice and promotion of justice and equity for all.
